Baidoa, Somalia – August 5, 2025 – The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahamud Moallim Abdule, together with a high-level delegation, arrived today in Baidoa, the interim capital of the South West State of Somalia. The city is set to host the much-anticipated Country Humanitarian Forum (CHF) 2025 on Wednesday, August 6.
Upon arrival at Shaati-Gaduud Airport, the Commissioner and his delegation were warmly received by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of the South West State, Mr. Abdinasir Abdi Arush. The welcoming party also included several ministers and senior officials from the South West State administration.
The upcoming CHF 2025 aims to bring together key stakeholders from government, humanitarian agencies, civil society, and the international community to discuss and strengthen collective responses to the growing humanitarian needs across Somalia. The forum will focus on advancing localized, inclusive, and sustainable humanitarian action amid evolving challenges, including climate-induced crises and displacement.
Commissioner Mahamud Moallim Abdule is expected to play a central role in the forum’s discussions, highlighting SoDMA’s ongoing efforts in disaster preparedness, coordination, and resilience-building initiatives across the country.
The South West State’s hosting of CHF 2025 marks a significant opportunity to spotlight regional humanitarian priorities and foster stronger collaboration between federal and state-level actors in addressing the country’s most pressing challenges.
