A delegation led by the Chairman of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Macallin Abdulle, made an official visit to Moqokori district on May 24, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to assess the humanitarian and living conditions in the area.
The delegation included:
- The Director General of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of Hirshabelle, Mr. Abdifitah Mohamed Yusuf
- SoDMA’s Director of Health, Dr. Abdullahi Muse Ahmed (Fanax)
Medical Aid Delivered
During the visit, SoDMA’s Health Department prepared a shipment of medicines, transported using two helicopters provided by the Federal Government of Somalia.
Due to capacity limits:
- Each helicopter could carry only 2 tons.
- 1 ton was used for fuel.
- The other ton was shared between medicine and staff.
Only 1 ton of medicine was delivered, including emergency and life-saving drugs.

KEY FINDINGS AFTER THE VISIT
- Severe Water Shortage
The main water well, used for over 50 years by the community, is nearly dried up, threatening access to clean water. - Health Center Construction Halted
Construction of Moqokori’s health center has stopped due to lack of funding. Completion is needed to serve the public.
Conclusion
The visit showed urgent needs in Moqokori, including water, health services, and basic humanitarian aid. SoDMA remains committed to supporting disaster-affected communities across Somalia.
