The 15th session of the African Risk Capacity (ARC) Annual Meeting took place in Kigali, Rwanda, and focused on improving disaster risk management in Africa. This meeting provided an important opportunity for Member States to collaborate and strengthen their strategies for addressing disaster risks across the continent.
During the technical portion of the conference, several important topics were addressed, including the election of the Chairman for the 15th session in 2025, as well as the election of the ARC Board of Directors for the next four years. These discussions aimed to facilitate a seamless transition and ensure effective leadership moving forward.
During the meeting with the leaders of the member states’ institutions, important technical decisions were made in which H.E. Mahamud Moallim Abdulle, the Commissioner of SoDMA, participated.
SoDMA played an important role in the conference discussions, contributing to the agenda and key reports from previous technical meetings. A significant point of focus was the proposal for collaborative efforts to address the ongoing challenges of drought in Africa.
