Mogadishu – Day Two

The second day of the launch meeting for the Somalia Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (S-MHEWS) is underway in Mogadishu.

The meeting has brought together representatives from ministries of the Federal Government of Somalia, officials from the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), and representatives of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

Discussions continue to focus on the implementation of a unified National Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (NMHEWS) that will integrate government institutions to provide timely early warnings for a wide range of hazards and strengthen Somalia’s disaster preparedness and response capacity.
