The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle, today received the Commander of the Somali National Army Ground Forces, General Khalid, and the delegation accompanying him at SoDMA headquarters.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between SoDMA and the Somali National Army, enhancing preparedness for and prevention of anticipated hazards—particularly the expected impacts of El Niño rainfall—and accelerating emergency response, search and rescue operations, and the delivery of humanitarian assistance to disaster-affected communities.

Following the meeting, the SoDMA Commissioner and the Commander of the Ground Forces jointly addressed the media, emphasizing the importance of close collaboration among government institutions to strengthen national preparedness and improve the country’s capacity to respond effectively to emergencies and disasters.
