The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) today delivered food assistance to vulnerable families in Abudwaq District to help reduce the impact of drought and the difficult living conditions affecting local communities.

The assistance forms part of SoDMA’s ongoing efforts to support vulnerable populations facing humanitarian challenges, with priority given to the households most in need. Today’s distribution marked the launch of the first phase of the relief operation.

The launch and distribution ceremony was attended by Member of Parliament Rays Qorane, the Commissioner of Somali Disaster Management Agency, Mr. Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of the Galmudug State, Mr. Abdirahman Makaawi, and officials from the Abudwaq District administration.
