The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle, delivered remarks during the commemoration of International Workers’ Day held in Mogadishu.
The Commissioner extended his congratulations to all Somali workers wherever they are, emphasizing the importance of the day for the country’s workforce. He also noted the need to increase productivity as a way to address the challenges of unemployment in Somalia.
On the other hand, the SoDMA Commissioner, Mr. Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle, spoke about the rising trend of irregular migration, calling on the Somali public to work together to prevent it and to save the lives of young people who risk dangerous journeys in an attempt to reach European countries.
Finally, the Commissioner warned about the potential risks associated with the expected rainfall across various regions of the country, particularly in Mogadishu. He noted that recent rains have resulted in the deaths of at least three people, and expressed concern over the possibility of further rainfall.
