The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Moallin Abdulle, received officials from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), led by Maxwell Sibhens and Etienne Peterschmitt, at the agency’s headquarters.
The meeting discussed the worsening drought situation and the growing needs across the country, which require urgent and coordinated action. Special attention was given to strengthening early warning systems, taking preventive measures, and accelerating drought response efforts to save the lives of vulnerable communities.
The two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation and coordination in humanitarian operations so that the responses provided will be timely, unified, and effective.
