The Deputy Commissioner of the Somali National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Dr. Ahmed Abdi Adan, today officially opened the National Drought Management Coordination Committee (NDMCC) Conference in Mogadishu.
The conference, organized by the Somali National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), focuses on strengthening coordination of drought response, analyzing the country’s humanitarian situation, and reinforcing cooperation among government institutions.
The National Drought Management Coordination Committee (NDMCC) Conference, which is held every three months, aims to improve the national data-sharing system, assess drought conditions, and guide national actions to address the impacts of drought.
The meeting is attended by representatives from the Federal Government of Somalia, the Federal Member States, and the Banadir Regional Administration, who are jointly analyzing food security conditions, the level of existing needs, and the challenges facing the response.
Finally, the Deputy Commissioner of SoDMA urged participants to recognize the importance of strengthening cooperation, sharing accurate information, and accelerating effective actions to reduce the impact of drought on the Somali people.
