Mogadishu — The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Maxamuud Macallin Cabdulle, and the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia and Humanitarian Coordinator, jointly chaired a high-level meeting bringing together senior leadership from SoDMA and OCHA.
Held at SoDMA headquarters, the meeting focused on the ongoing drought situation, the finalization and launch of the 2026 humanitarian needs assessment, and Somalia’s 2026 Humanitarian Response Plan.
Discussions also addressed the decline in global humanitarian funding and underscored the growing importance of national solidarity and shared responsibility—highlighting the need for Somali communities and government institutions to work together in managing the country’s humanitarian situation and strengthening local response capacity.
