SoDMA Commissioner Highlights Somalia’s Urgent Humanitarian Needs at 9th Country Humanitarian Forum (CHF)
The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahamud Moallim Abdule, delivered a keynote address at the 9th Country Humanitarian Forum (CHF) in Jowhar, warning of a severe humanitarian crisis facing the country.
Mr. Mahamud emphasized that droughts, recurrent floods, ongoing conflicts, and displacement have heavily impacted civilians, particularly vulnerable populations. He urged government and humanitarian actors to ensure responses are timely, coordinated, preventative, and effective to mitigate the impact of future disasters.
He also highlighted the introduction of new disaster preparedness plans designed to link humanitarian response with stabilization efforts, strengthen community trust, restore governance, and lay the foundation for peace and development.
