NGO Representative Warns of Worsening Humanitarian Situation at 9th Country Humanitarian Forum
Ms. Nimo Hasan, Director of the National NGO Consortium, speaking on behalf of Somali NGOs, delivered a speech at the 9th Country Humanitarian Forum (CHF) held in Jowhar, where she warned of a deteriorating humanitarian situation across Somalia.
She noted that the poor Deyr rainfall and ongoing droughts have worsened conditions, particularly in rural areas, displacement camps, and among vulnerable communities. She added that while humanitarian needs continue to rise, available resources are steadily shrinking.
Ms. Nimo praised the leadership of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) and the cooperation between the Federal Member States’ Ministries of Humanitarian Affairs. She also extended her appreciation to UN agencies, local and international NGOs, and donors for their continued support in ensuring aid reaches those most in need.
In conclusion, she called for greater focus on shared responsibility and community resilience, stressing that Somalia’s future depends on the strength, faith, and generosity of its people — not solely on humanitarian assistance.
