LAS ANOD, SOMALIA — In a move that underscores the deep connection between local and central leadership, His Excellency the President of the Northeast Regional State, Mr. Abdulkadir Ahmed Aw Ali Firdhiye, welcomed on Thursday a high-level delegation from the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), led by its commissioner, Mr. Mohamud Moallim Abdulle. The working visit to Las Anod city was also attended by His Excellency the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Mr. Abdirisaq Al-Hindi.
During the productive meeting, officials discussed ways to strengthen joint cooperation on humanitarian issues, emergency aid, and community development plans.
His Excellency the President of the State, Mr. Abdulkadir Ahmed Aw Ali Firdhiye, warmly welcomed the delegation, stating that “it is a priority for our administration to ensure the safety and security of our citizens in the face of natural disasters. This visit establishes a strong partnership aimed at building our local capabilities to provide an effective and rapid response to all community needs.”
For his part, the SoDMA Commissioner affirmed that “SoDMA is committed to building an integrated disaster management system and ensuring a rapid emergency response to safeguard lives and property.” He further noted that “the local administration in the Northeast has demonstrated full readiness to take part in implementing effective plans that will benefit every individual in the region.”
After the meeting concluded, the delegation visited the residence of the Speaker of the Northeast Parliament, Dr. Adan Abdullahi Aw-Hassan, and the Vice President of the Northeast Administration, Mr. Abdirashid Yusuf Jabril, where they discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in facing crises and serving the community.
