MOGADISHU, SOMALIA — The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mohamud Moallim Abdulle, has announced the appointment of Mr. Ibrahim Abdullahi Ahmed (Sheelare) as the new Director of the Department of Information, Communications and Technology (ICT).

The Commissioner stated that this appointment is part of SoDMA’s efforts to enhance its communication tools and channels, aiming to promote transparency and strengthen bridges of engagement with communities, as well as with local and international partners, in support of national humanitarian goals.

Mr. Sheelare brings extensive experience in the media sector, having worked with several local radio stations and served in various government ministries, including the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, as well as the former Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of the Federal Government of Somalia. In recent months, he has served as the Acting Director of the Department of Information, Communications, and Technology at SoDMA.

In conclusion, the Commissioner of the agency urged the new director to fulfill his duties with integrity, responsibility, and a strong sense of national service, wishing him success in advancing the agency’s humanitarian mission.
