SoDMA Commissioner Mahamoud Moallim held a productive meeting with Sheikh Aden Abuukar Osman (Sheikh Sufi Yare), the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Somali Clerics, along with other esteemed clerics. This gathering provided a valuable opportunity for dialogue and collaboration on important community matters.

The meeting focused on the vital initiative of establishing a National Fund dedicated to collecting zakat and charitable donations from the Somali community. This treasury would be collaboratively managed by both the agency and the Union of Clerics. The goal is to empower local resources and reduce reliance on foreign humanitarian aid, ultimately fostering self-sufficiency and resilience within the country.

The officials reached a consensus that the scholars will establish a committee to collaborate with SoDMA. Additionally, they agreed to schedule another meeting to finalize the important initiatives between the two.
