MOGADISHU, Somalia: The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mahmoud Ma’allin Abdulle, chaired an emergency meeting to assess the El Niño situation and its potential impacts across Somalia.

The meeting, held at the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), focused on the evolving El Niño situation and ongoing preparedness efforts to prevent and mitigate its potential effects on Somali communities.

Discussions emphasized the importance of strengthening preparedness, coordinating response efforts and taking proactive measures to reduce disaster risks and protect lives and livelihoods.

SoDMA continues to work with relevant government institutions and humanitarian partners to enhance readiness and support coordinated action in response to potential El Niño-related hazards.
