Mogadishu, Somalia: Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Ma’allin Abdulle, received the Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Somalia, Dr. Humphrey, at the Agency’s headquarters.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the two institutions, particularly preparedness and joint response to humanitarian and health emergencies arising from flooding, El Niño, and disease outbreaks.
The two sides also discussed strengthening emergency response coordination, planning and preparedness, as well as ensuring that health and humanitarian assistance reaches communities affected by disasters.
Commissioner Mahmoud Ma’allin Abdulle thanked WHO for its continued support to health services and humanitarian response in Somalia, and called for strengthened efforts to support communities during humanitarian and public health emergencies.
