Mogadishu, Somalia: Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahmoud Ma’allin Abdulle, today received representatives from the Somali Diaspora Returnees Network (SDRN) at the Agency’s headquarters.
The meeting focused on the humanitarian situation in Somalia, particularly the anticipated impacts of Super El Niño, and ways for the Somali diaspora to play a greater role in supporting national preparedness and humanitarian response efforts.
The two sides also discussed creating employment and livelihood opportunities for returnees from the diaspora, with the aim of contributing to efforts to reduce unemployment and support their reintegration into communities.
Commissioner Mahmoud Ma’allin Abdulle commended the Somali diaspora for their continued support and encouraged them to strengthen their contribution to humanitarian preparedness and response, particularly amid declining international humanitarian support.
