Baidoa, Somalia: The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) held a stakeholder consultation in Baidoa, bringing together business leaders, civil society representatives, and local government officials to discuss challenges affecting the Mogadishu–Baidoa corridor, particularly checkpoint management, unofficial fees, and road safety.
Supported by UNICEF, the consultation aimed to gather firsthand insights into the corridor’s conditions, assess the impact of these challenges on commercial transport and humanitarian supply movements, and identify ways to strengthen safety, coordination, and the continuity of movement.
The meeting was opened by the Director General of the South West Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Mr. Hussein Nor Adan. Technical discussions were led by SoDMA Senior Advisor Mukhtar Sheikh Hussein Jimale, while the session was closed by the Ministry’s Coordinator, Mr. Ibrahim Mohamed Abdi.
