{"id":7999,"date":"2026-01-12T19:45:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T19:45:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sodma.gov.so\/eng\/?p=7999"},"modified":"2026-01-12T19:59:40","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T19:59:40","slug":"sodma-commissioner-leads-high-level-delegation-to-dhoobley-to-assess-drought-impact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sodma.gov.so\/eng\/sodma-commissioner-leads-high-level-delegation-to-dhoobley-to-assess-drought-impact\/","title":{"rendered":"SoDMA Commissioner Leads High-Level Delegation to Dhoobley to Assess Drought Impact"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"131\" data-end=\"581\"><strong data-start=\"131\" data-end=\"157\">Dhoobley, Lower Juba \u2014<\/strong> A high-level delegation led by the <strong data-start=\"193\" data-end=\"298\">Commissioner of Somali Disaster Management Agency (<span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">SoDMA<\/span><\/span>),Mr<\/strong>\u00a0<strong data-start=\"300\" data-end=\"341\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Mahmoud Maalin Abdulle<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, together with the <strong data-start=\"361\" data-end=\"457\">Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations for Somalia and Humanitarian Coordinator<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"459\" data-end=\"500\"><span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">George Conway<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, today arrived in Dhoobley district in the Lower Juba region of Jubbaland State.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"583\" data-end=\"796\">The delegation was warmly received by the Jubbaland Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management\u2014who also serves as Chair of the Jubbaland Drought Committee\u2014alongside regional and district authorities.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"798\" data-end=\"1003\">The visit aimed to conduct an on-the-ground assessment of the worsening drought conditions in Dhoobley and surrounding areas, to establish a clear picture of humanitarian impacts and identify urgent needs.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1005\" data-end=\"1344\">During the mission, the delegation met with vulnerable communities, including internally displaced families severely affected by prolonged drought and widespread livestock losses. Consultations were also held with community leaders to gather firsthand accounts of the drought\u2019s effects on livelihoods, water access, and essential services.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1346\" data-end=\"1695\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Concluding the visit, the SoDMA Commissioner stated that the delegation had directly observed the severity of the situation facing residents of Dhoobley.
