The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency, Mohamud Moallim Abdulle, launched the WISER Action First-East Africa<\/strong> project during an event in Naivasha, Kenya. This significant initiative has a budget exceeding $40 million.<\/p>\n

The initiative aims to enhance disaster resilience among the most vulnerable communities in East Africa, including Somalia.<\/p>\n

This project, which will be implemented by the Disaster Management and Weather Forecasting Agencies of various East African nations, is designed to last for four years. It is generously funded by the UK government through its development agency, FCDO, supporting critical efforts to strengthen these communities against the impacts of disasters.<\/p>\n

During the project launching ceremony, the Commissioner emphasized the timely nature of this initiative, noting its crucial role in enhancing risk warning systems for our region, particularly benefiting Somalia. The project represents a significant step towards bridging existing gaps and improving our capacity to respond to potential threats.<\/p>\n

At the conclusion of the event, Mr. Mahamud highlighted the significance of leveraging this project effectively. He encouraged all project implementing partners to carry out their responsibilities with efficiency and transparency, ensuring that the community reaps the benefits equitably.<\/p>\n

Mr. Mahamud convened a meeting with the representatives of FCDO, the project’s donor, he also expressed his gratitude for their unwavering support to the countries in the region, particularly Somalia. He emphasized the positive impact of their assistance and the importance of continued collaboration for the development of the area.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
