The Federal Government of Somalia, in collaboration with the Federal Member States, has officially declared a state of emergency due to drought, warning of the potential impacts and risks associated with the upcoming Deyr (autumn) rains.
In its statement, the government urged all levels of public institutions, humanitarian organizations, and international partners to take immediate action to strengthen health services, water supply, and food security, while implementing sustainable measures aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change.
It further noted that approximately 4.4 million people are projected to face food insecurity between October and December 2025.
