MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) successfully concluded a two-day workshop in Mogadishu, uniting representatives from the Ministries of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management across Federal Member States and the Benadir regional administration. The event marked a significant step toward enhancing collaboration and strategic planning for disaster prevention and response in Somalia.
The workshop provided a dynamic platform for constructive dialogue, focusing on a five-year strategic plan to bolster the nation’s disaster management framework.
Mohamed Mukhtar, Senior Advisor at SoDMA, presented a comprehensive report detailing collaborative efforts between federal and state agencies. The report highlighted the importance of tailored strategies to build resilience in Somali communities facing natural and human-induced disasters.
Regional representatives shared valuable insights into local humanitarian challenges, emphasizing the need for improved communication and coordinated emergency operations. The discussions identified key opportunities for collaboration, paving the way for innovative solutions to strengthen disaster response efforts nationwide.
